New Year, New Journal Peeks

My jiffy-bag-journal is one of my favourite long-term projects. I add pages as I go, meaning it's never half finished (like everything other sketchbook or journal I start). It's made of leftovers and scraps and tickets, all stuck together with masking tape and pritt stick. It's good for emptying the brain.

Please remember, this is a journal and any thoughts and emotions expressed are mine and they're personal. I mainly write my journal on bad days, days that I don't like to blog about - no one's life is a fairytale, after all.

Journal Peeks

It's been a while since I've shared any of my journal pages - and I've been adding pages to my current journal like crazy recently - I'm a big fan of documenting and getting feelings out of my head and on to paper and all the changes that have been happening here lately have been a catalyst for that.

For anyone interested, I make my own journals from jiffy bigs (padded envelopes) cut open along one side and unstuck at the top and bottom. The pages are constructed from modified birthday cards, envelopes, fliers, scrap paper, either masking taped, stitched, glued or stapled into the fold of the jiffy bag, creating a book that I can add pages to, as and when I need to.

"…reality is sometimes better than my imagination."

It's mainly text-filled, I have heaps of sketchbooks full of drawings and doodles - this is just a place for me to keep my thoughts.

It's mainly filled with reminders of what makes life good and small, scrawled moments of terror and panic. Diaries, don't you just love them?! ;)

Feel free to comment, but please remember these are my thoughts and emotions, try not to judge them too harshly.

Peeks into my art journal...

I've been pretty bad at updating my art journal recently. I started this one when I first moved out and until this week, it had about three entries in it. I spent Sunday evening filling it with pages so I could scribble out all my thoughts and secrets!*

It's full of fliers I pick up from things I've seen, tickets and travelcards, doodles and rambling, the usual.

I love art journalling, it's one of my favourite ways to relax. I hope you're having a lovely weekend.

You can see some of my older journal pages here.

*the secrets aren't very secret, because I forget how interesting jiffy-bag journals look, so when people say "Ooh! Can I have a look?!" when I'm writing in it, chances are I'll say yes.

Travel Journal - Part Two

Hello and welcome to part two of my travel journal! (See part one here). More sketches, doodles and drawings of text from my holiday in Spain (which feels like a million years ago!)...

I'll share my pros/cons of holidays lists properly at some point, they made me smile!

I collected so many bus tickets! Some are stuck at the bottom of this page...

…and I collaged some on this tree trunk!

Oh I really could. Especially English seaside, I do get homesick for England, my bed, English rain and English chocolate when I'm away! haha.

Starting a new journal...

These are scans of the cover I made for my journal.

I started a new journal this week! I love journalling, but I never seem to finish them… (this is pretty much the story of my life - I start heaps of projects and hardly any of them get finished!) I haven't filled many pages yet - but I spent hours making a cover for it - here are a few close ups…

It's made up of squares of felt, denim and hand-dyed, hand-stamped fabric, tissue paper and buttons, all sewn together with a ridiculous about of embroidery floss.

I'm really pleased with how it turned it out, it makes me want to try ultra hard to fill it with pretty pages. Here's a peek inside...

I can't wait to fill it up! Hope you're having a good week :)

Axo.
