Harry Potter Studio Tour Part II

Part two of Kim and I's adventures at the Harry Potter Studio Tour! Image heavy and slightly fangirlish,  I hope you can forgive me!

The first of my favourite parts of the tour: the Potions Classroom. Even if it wasn't for my love fondness  of Severus Snape, this would still have been a favourite - the details are fabulous. The endless glass bottles full of potions ingredients! So perfect. 

Oh y'know, just hanging out in the Dungeons with Hermione.

Beautiful. Kim and I spent a while dreaming of having a studio similar to this, for dyeing. 

I expected The Burrow to be fabulous - and it didn't disappoint! Mrs. Weasley is a joint favourite of ours and I'd love to live in a ramshackle house similar to the one described in the books. 

Knitting! Wouldn't it be brilliant if you could enchant needles to knit on their own? Perfect for boring but necessary bits, like stocking stitch!

The little section full of graphics and illustrations all designed especially for the films, and sometimes barely on screen for seconds, if it all, was probably my favourite after Snape's dungeon, but that'll be my illustration-arty side, I suppose!

The Marauders Map, school books, copies of The Quibbler and The Daily Prophet.

This brought a tear to my eye, I am not ashamed to admit! Something that I felt was sadly overlooked in the films. I love Lily.

Kim and Amy's Tips for maximum enjoyment of your trip:
- Go early! There's no limit to the amount of time you can spend on the tour - but it does have to close at a certain time - 7.00 or perhaps 7.30 I can't remember! We were on a late afternoon tour and we had to rush a little at the end.
- Talk to the tour guides! They know so much, ask them to tell you everything they know, it's their job! They're all really friendly and will take photos of you and your friends if you so wish.
- Take a camera! We took photographs of everything.
- Go with fans! It's much more fun to be able to squeal and clutch each other, than feel like you're dragging people around who don't really want to be there.

Harry Potter Studio Tour part I

Back in April, Kim and I went to the Harry Potter Studio Tour - yes, it's taken me this long (and a fair bit of nagging from Kim :P ) to get around to posting about it. In case you didn't know, we are both serious Potter geeks casual Harry fans, I mean it's nothing serious, we can take it or leave it really. Umm okay so that's a massive lie. I draw your attention back to this moment last summer! Haha. Anyway, this is a fangirly and image heavy post, that I am dedicating to Kim, who sadly lost all her own photos from the day.

We went by train, and hitched a ride on a shuttle bus - The Studio Tour London is more of a general term, it's in Watford, which is a little way out of town.

Even the foyer was awe-inspiring.

We had a little talk by one of the tour guides, and watched some footage showing the journey from book-to-film. There was a bit of squealing from both of us when we spotted my silly little face on screen, at the Hallows pt.2 premiere! And then the tour started properly.

The Great Hall was amazing, and this goes for everywhere as well, the level of detail in everything is unbelievable.

The Great Hall is the only part of the tour that you're limited on the time you can spend in there, everywhere else you can wander through freely at your own pace, which is lovely. There was plenty of time to take photos and have a little sit down and enjoy the views and quote entire passages from the books at each other.

It's been a while since I've read Harry Potter (while here meaning about three months), and now I'm craving a re-read! There's something very comforting about it.

Part II has some of my very favourite parts of the tour in, and I'll be posting that next week, along with some tips about how to get the most out of your visit - I don't want to overload you with too much Harry all at once! who am I kidding, you can never have too much Harry.
